Rogerson Communities announced today the filling of a critical leadership role as it works to expand its housing footprint to combat the senior care crisis in Massachusetts.  Joe Crisafulli, a 39-year veteran of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), joined the nonprofit as its new Director of Affordable Housing on March 2, 2026. Crisafulli will oversee Rogerson’s income-eligible properties in the Commonwealth after having overseen a portfolio of more than 2,800 properties during his career.   Rogerson, a leading developer and management agent of affordable and market-rate housing for older adults in the state, has a portfolio of 21 properties comprised of more than 1,500 units. Growing its housing footprint is a primary initiative in the organization’s five-year strategic plan.   “This is the most important moment in Rogerson’s…

From Surviving to Thriving

Sheronda Davis is a curious, socially engaged, and independent person. Most of all, however, she is resilient. After a truly life-altering experience, she found her way to a welcoming and supportive home on Beacon Hill, at Peter Faneuil House.  While she has lived most of her adult life in Greater Boston, Sheronda spent her late teens and young adulthood in New York City. Coming of age in New York during the 1970s and early 1980s was a memorable experience, she says, recalling how she “hit the club scene” at storied dance hotspots like the Paradise Garage and the Crisco Disco. She had settled down a bit by the time she visited a friend in Boston around Thanksgiving of 1986, and decided to apply for a job at Filene’s Basement. If she…

Compassion When It’s Needed Most

We hear the story far too often: an older adult experiences a health crisis that threatens her financial stability, and even her ability to remain housed. When it happened to Elizabeth, a resident of Beacon House who fell behind in rent due to a hospitalization, her property manager didn’t hound her—she helped her.  Elizabeth built a career on helping others, founding, with her husband, an intermediate care facility for people struggling with mental health and substance abuse disorders. She followed that up by earning a master’s degree and working in a hospital psychiatric department. After the passing of her husband and parents, she spent time at a Buddhist meditation retreat…
