Rogerson President & CEO Walter Ramos Addresses RWU Graduates During Commencement

Walter Ramos, President and CEO of Rogerson Communities, was tapped by his alma mater Roger Williams University to deliver an address to its graduating class welcoming them into its alumni association.
Addressing a crowd of nearly 1300 graduates and their loved ones, Walter, who graduated from RWU in 1983 with a degree in Political Science and Law, shared his story – from the seats in which the class of 2025 were sitting to the stage speaking before them, overcoming challenges and obstacles along the way.
“Life and career paths almost never happen as you expect and never without turns and redirection,” Walter said. “I can proudly tell you that Roger Williams University was there for me at the time when I could not see and find that path for myself.”
Offering words of advice to the newly minted graduates, Walter focused on three themes: resilience, asking for help when needed, and helping others.
“That is the most wonderful aspect of our DNA – to help other people,” Walter shared with the crowd. “And last, when you have reached that pinnacle, remember the trials and tribulations you had getting there – and help others so they can get there, too.”
Asked later about addressing his alma mater at Commencement for the first time, Walter shared that the experience was quite moving and reinforced his appreciation for the social service that shaped his career. You can watch Walter’s address at the ceremony here.
