Rogerson Communities is pleased to announce that storied Boston real estate developer John L. Hall II will be recognized with the Charles E. Rogerson Award, the organization’s most prestigious honor.

Hall’s distinguished career in real estate spans more than three decades. He is principal and co-founder of Hall Properties and also serves on the board of directors of HallKeen Management, which oversees a wide portfolio of affordable and mixed-income housing across the Northeast. Previously, Hall spent 19 years as Executive Vice President at Carpenter & Company, where he was involved with the development of notable commercial projects such as the Fiduciary Trust Building at 175 Federal Street, the Charles Hotel and Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, and the Ritz-Carlton Condominiums in Boston.

Hall’s long-term engagement in nonprofit governance, community leadership, and education throughout Greater Boston underscores a mission-aligned dedication to improving quality of life across generations. Hall has been a Trustee of Children’s Hospital, Corporator of the Boston Children’s Museum, Trustee of Proctor Academy, and Chairman of the Board of the Park School. He is also a Director of the Brookline Bank.

Hall has been a steadfast supporter of Rogerson Communities for more than a quarter century, starting in 2000. Since then, he has deepened his involvement with the organization by serving on its board of directors for 17 years.

Named for former Board President Charles Rogerson, whose leadership catalyzed the organization’s growth early in the 20th century, the Charles E. Rogerson Award is annually bestowed upon a Bostonian who truly embodies the Rogerson mission. Charles Rogerson’s legacy inspires individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors to demonstrate heart, strength, and compassion for older adults.

Rogerson’s mission is focused on low-income older adults—a community routinely overlooked and one that is outgrowing available support. The need for affordable housing and services that allow this community to age with dignity is the bedrock of the organization’s ambitious five-year strategic plan.

“Few needs are more pressing, and few causes more worthy, than addressing the crisis in affordable housing and care for older adults,” Hall said. “Rogerson Communities has been a champion of this cause in Massachusetts for generations. I’m proud of our accomplishments on behalf of older adults in the Commonwealth, and humbled to have been selected for this honor.”

The Charles E. Rogerson Award honoree list includes Sec. John Kerry, Gov. Michael Dukakis and Kitty Dukakis, Hon. William Weld, Brit d’Arbeloff, Lee Pelton, Jack Connors, and Hon. Charlie Baker.

Hall will be celebrated at Welcome Home, Boston’s premier fundraising event for older adults, on October 8, 2026, at Boston Harbor Hotel.
